O'Zone Fidji

F-Litter (*20 Mar 2007)

One day I took Henna to a show. That way I was infected by the "dog show virus" and have developed a passion for going to shows and looking at other dogs and see if a judge agrees that my dogs are the best and most beautiful dogs in the entire show. Because to me they are! And I don't particularly care if others disagree. If a judge has a different opinion than that's ok for me. To me it's a hobby I have fun with and I am not going to ruin the joy of it by getting too focused on judgings - although of course I am very happy if a judge agrees that my dogs are the best!
Unfortunately Laika has a habit of refusing to run in the show ring. She thinks the whole point of trotting is to jump at her handler and avoid walking on four feet. After all, the front legs are kind of like arms, right? So what kind of strange person has come up with the idea that humans run with two legs and she is supposed to run on four legs! Silly girl. She just can't understand why her stubbornness won't change the way dog shows work no matter how much she misbehaves.

Helsinki 25 November 2007
2nd best female puppy for Teija Salmi-Aalto (Finland)
[unfortunately this judging consists primarily of abbreviations and so I may not get all of it accurately, however, it should give a general idea still I hope.]

Special thanks to Laika's breeder Outi (O'Zone Kennel) and the (former) owner of Laika's sister O'Zone Formosa ("Åsa") for handeling my little girl who believes to be a person and hence walks on two legs only!
  • good type
  • good head, nice jawline but lines a little soft
  • good neck
  • good topline
  • good stature
  • good chest
  • good croup
  • good bones
  • good angulation
  • movment difficult to judge
  • balanced overall appearance
  • a bit dark around the muzzle [I like that, but she is absolutely right about that! Interesting it isn't mentioned more often.]
Helsinki 2 December 2007
3rd best female puppy for Matti Tuominen (Finland)
[unfortunately this handwriting is a little "chicken scratch" AND it is finnish. So this is very hard for me to make sense of it but I think I get the jist of the judges comments]

Special thanks to Laika's breeder Outi (O'Zone Kennel) for handeling her and putting up with my "Miss Impossible" and the owners of her sisters who helped as well!
  • good type of a puppy bitch
  • good black and brown colours (I think?)
  • good female head
  • good jawline
  • good chest
  • movement difficult to judge

Lahti 20 January 2008
EH in Junior Class for Marianne Holm (Finland)

  • feminine, well shaped head
  • would prefer eyes a bit darker
  • very nice neck and topline
  • needs to develop in front
  • enough angulation in rear part
  • moved with good reach and angulation
  • she was very loose in front [as in jumping all the time and not running I think]
  • correct coat and colouring
  • needs ringtraining

  • gait with good reach but lacking in drive
  • open personality
Helsinki International Show, 25 May 2008
EH & 3rd Best Junior Female for Piotr Krol (Poland)

Special thanks to Laika's breeder Outi (O'Zone Kennel) and the owner of Laika's uncle O'Zone Baku ("Baku") and Dascha vom Havelland ("Dascha"), for handeling her!
  • breed typical
  • too much temprament
  • too little substance
  • medium length neck
  • no good movment/gait
  • [Laika decided if Outi wants to run in circles she was happy with her doing that and she would go home in the meantime. Besides little, noisy dogs are a real pain in the rear and she wants to go and shut them up rather than stand still for some person to just look at her. She ran a bit better with Hanna (Baku & Dascha).
Järvenpää, 28 June 2008

  • elongated neck
  • correct topline
  • excellent underline
  • straight front legs
  • correct angulation
  • dense coat
  • small chest markings, a bit sooty
  • tries to distance herself from handler with long strides
  • unfortunately this anatomically correct female was unable to show her entire excellence - particularly in movments - due to the inexperienced handler [doesn't matter what he says! I think she was handled very well, much better than I could have done myself and I am extremly grateful for the help with handling, this dog simply doesn't want to run properly.... and never has...]
Porvoo, 14 September 2008
