The very first two days with Henna

Cuddling is always a good idea!

The early weeks

Henna came to stay with us when she was two years and four months old. She prooved to be a real challenge at first because she very much wanted to be our boss rather than the other way round. However, we didn't let her put us off by that. So she came to live with us for good. Thanks again to her wonderful breeder for giving us a week to see if we really got on with her before we made a final decision. However, as it turned out we were absolutely certain she was right for us after two days and we haven't regretted our decision once since.
Now Henna is a happy if wild dog always onto some mischief who somehow manages to conquer the hearts of the people she meets in a storm. Even those who are a little scared of dogs like her. This includes the family cat living with relatives. They even share the same water bowl.

Discovering play and fun with two-legged friends

Henna loves running after toys. The problem with frisbees, however, turns out to be that she inevitably bites them into pieces as some of these pictures show.
At first our girl had some trouble figuring out how that game works: she didn't really know how to find her toy when she couldn't locate it by sight. However, since then she has learned a lot and now is very good at finding her toy although she still has trouble locating it by smell it seems. But she makes that up pretty well by sound and sight.

Henna loves fighting games. Pulling on toys, jumping for them and so on. It turned out holding the toy out of her reach is a real challenge since she will jump so high she can get it even if we hold it up as high as possible above our heads! We think she must have been a bouncy-rubber-ball in a former life.

'I like to pretend I can fly!'

'Don't I look like a little angel? I am one! Well,.... sometimes....'

'Look! I'm not big but I can jump reeeeaaal high!'

Mud season!

'I'm coming!!! Are you happy now?!'

Visiting family in Germany and turning into a little cocklebur-monster!

Henna loved Germany because there she can stay outside as much as she wants because of the large property sourrounding the house. Also, she likes the fact that in Germany there are almost no places (large food shops are the exception) she can't accompany us. However, she didn't like the fact that she had to be brushed constantly because otherwise she turned all green with cockleburs. She would try to clean her fur by eating them all but that made her sick. So brushing was the only option.

'Why are you having a barbecue without me? That's definately not fair!'

SNOW!!!

A place called home

'I'm not supposed to go on the furniture but I am SOOOOO happy my friend is back and I need to lick his face NOW!'

'They call this a dog-bed. I REALLY like it. After I figured out I am allowed to sit on it. Because at first I thought I will get scolded if I step on it.'
