Black Master's Henna-Eole
Black Master's Tervueren H-Litter (* 27 Feb 2004)
Partially offical, partially inoffical health record for Henna:
- HD: A/A (hips are free of any signs of hip dyspalsia)
- ED: 0/0 (elbows show no signs of elbow dyspalsia)
- Jaws: full dentition; scissor bite
- Eyes: T10/05 (eyes are free of any signs of cataracts when checked in October 2005)
- Eyes: tested 05/08, Hennas eyes are free of PPM (Persistent Pupillary Membranes), PHTVL/PHPV (Persistent hyperplastic tunica vasculosa lentis/persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous),
cataracts, retina dysplasia and about any other possible eye disease, but the vet believes to have spotted a coloboma in the right eye.
This does evidently not affect her vision in the least (although it should) and - although I was told this anomaly would have been just as present at birth and throughout her first eye exam for one reason or other it wasn't detected; I am still not sure I really trust the vets judgment (being notoriously suspicious of doctors in general) and am considering having this re-tested but so far it seems pointless since she has no limitations whatsoever and there is no need in spending money on this at the moment.
- Teeth: I1 surgically removed after it broke while playing (September 2006), presumably due to biting onto a stone; I2 broke off in October 2008 presumably due to an accident with a wire car crate, I2 and I3 were surgically removed in September 2009 due to infected tooth root due to chipped teeth after accident from 2008
- Addison's Disease was suspected in October 2006 but it turned out she does not have it.
- Henna has chronic rhinitis (very mild, prevents her from being a good tracking dog when it is acute) since August 2009. It seems to be of a relapsing-remitting style with no noticeable aggravation. She seems not to care much, only problem in her view is apparently that whenever she turns on her back she has to sneeze after a while. For unknown reasons rhinitis is resistant to every possible antibiotic and cortisone treatment (prednisolone 20mg once a day for 10 days)
- Henna has always had episodes of vomiting up bile but it was mild and very infrequent. In January 2011 she developed rather pronounced signs or chronic gastritis with no apparent alternations of the stomach lining. This was following her season. This occurred again in August 2011. Gastritis does not respond to Omeprazol or cortisone but can be treated with frequent small meals and Milk of Magnesia for the night. Goes into total remission after about 14 days. Due to the timing our veterinarian believes it to be a sign for an otherwise asymptomatic false pregnancy.
- no known allergies (her rhinitis appears to be non-allergic)
- so far she showed no indications that suggest she might have epilepsy (which unfortunately is not entirely unheard of in Belgian Shepherds)
